Thanks Jurgens.....

yes i love chantel (my girlfriend) very much and i cant wait to see her again but i had to mention my friend's name in the title cause........he was the first person to post a comment on my very own blog! thanks a million bossie, that just made my day!! sweet!
it's been almost 3 weeks now and like in my last posting i am still loving this place called palmie. you just sort of grow into the relaxed atmosphere and laidback kinda feeling you get from this town.
it's the first time i left my boots and takkies outside to dry and it was still there the following morning, the first time i left my car open with my cellphone on the seat while i quickly popped into the shop, the first time that after a movie you take your trash out with you and throw it in a bin yourself, the first time where i dont pay for ATM transactions, and the first time i played on a field so muddy and wet that you sink away ankle deep in the grass and mud. but it's been all fun and games!
so the rainy training session is something of the past now and rain has become something very common now, in the begining i was like, cool yeah, get dvd's and hot choc and get back in bed, but that's only fun for the first two or three times and then you have to go out and run in the rain and fall in the mud and then it's just not that cool anymore. but you get accustomed to it and eventualy the wet clothes and boots dont bother you anymore.
for those who want more pic's, i am really sorry, i will try get some on this w-end, some pic's of my club and stuff like that!
keep on reading boys and girls and keep that comments coming!
cheers!
PS. If you dont read this post in a open-minded, sarcasticly kinda way then some stuff might be offensive, one thing that i'm very serious about is my meisie, chantel, lief vir jou!

2 weeks and counting...

Hello everyone!
for those who reads this blog regulary i am sorry for the long wait for a new update, i know it's been long ovedue but i'm only settling down now and getting rustig, so i've got more time on my hands for admin ya know!!
it's been 2 weeks today that i have officialy been overseas and i must say, i'm loving it! yeah i know it's my first trip and everything will be nice cause i cant compare this to previous trips but ya all know what........? i'm still loving it!
the weather has been quite surprisingly nice and i still havent had my first raining training session, not that i'm looking forward to it, but i've heard so many stories you know that i'm keen for it to happen now. training has been good, it's just a different ball game down here. for those who is quite hooked up on rugby, down under there is other aspects of the game you need to concentrate on eg. holding on to the ball in contact, looking for the offload in contact, turnover in tackle, that kind of stuff. not that it's not happening back in SA,but here it's just on another level. i think after a season here i would've definetly grown as a player even if i'm not at one of the top clubs.
palmie is very much a "laid-back" kinda town and there's not much happening here, i think at the university there might be some more "life" than in town but it all depends on what kind of person you are. i am more than happy to spend some time on the golf course (weather permitting) or watching a movie or just chilling out.
i joined a local church here last sunday and what an experience! It seems that every new church i join is just better than the previous one. not that the previous ones were bad or anything, but i just get more out of the services. i still miss the cell groups we had back in durban, i miss the fellowship and just the relaxed atmosphere in which you could talk about your faith and walk with God. there is cell groups at the church here in palmie, but we training in the evenings and we always finish too late.
I bought myself a 1990 toyota camry for R10 000. cars are very cheap here and it's still in very good condition,it's got aircon, elec windows, automatic, it feels like my corsa was pimped! :)

i have to go, will try keep this blog more updated and can someone PLEASE post a comment at the bottom of this log!
sweet!

"Yeah Bro" .......

Well, that is just one of the few sayings they use down here in NZ and it took me about 2 days to get use to and 3 days to use it with the same accent as a thoroughbred kiwi! it's good as gold mate!! ha ha
let's start at the very humble begining......i landed at the auckland international airport at 13:40 in cold, rainy conditions. i was very nervous going through customs cause you never know when they just might decide it's time for you to unpack your whole bag! luckly i was blessed with a very friendly passport control officer and got through quick and easy! tanya (my cousin) was waiting on the other side with her 3 adorable little children and off i went for the night to stay over at her and tom's (her husband) cosy-make-you-feel-welcome-house. i was very tired from the long flight ( i left SA wed-evening and arrived here fri-afternoon) and could barely keep my eyes open. i had to though to get into my new sleeping patterns asap! mind you though,, just before 4am that morning i was wide awake, lying in bed till just before 7am to dose off for another hour or so before i had to get up for the final leg of my journey to palmie (well that's what they call palmerston north).
i arrived in palmie, bout midday, safely in the smallest plane i have ever been in (now hows this for a trip, my biggest plane ride and smallest!). ever-friendly joggie came to pick me up and made me feel welcome in my new home town immediatley! saturday afternoon i met my new coach, charlie macallister, and he took me to my new club here in palmie (in NZ a player has to play club rugby to make any squads so i'll be playing bout 4 games and hopefully i will get into the final NPC squad). this coming saturday my club is playing joggie's club and me and him decided that we gonna be telling in afrikaans what each other teams are going to do and that way we will both know what's happening and pitch up at the right time at the right place and show the kiwi's how to play rugga's........or maybe not!
Today we play the first set of trials for the NPC squad for manawatu. i know it will go well and there will be another update by friday hopefully!
